  Summer Reading Program for Grown-ups

Remember when your teacher sent home a list of books that you should read over the summer?

Now that you are a grown-up, you can read any romance, thriller or sci-fi novel you want.

But wouldn’t you like to read something with a little more substance, maybe a book about how your shopping habits affect others or how one woman prayed for strangers as she was led by God?  Maybe books about social justice or how our culture affects our beliefs are more to your liking.

Grace UMW has the answer for you.  Books are available to borrow from the church library or through Centre County Library.  Reading lists and tracking forms are in the lobby at the front of the sanctuary.  Readers of 5 books, one in each noted category, are eligible for recognition at the District United Methodist Women’s meeting.  Books must be read by DECEMBER 1, 2018 to qualify.

Readers of one book in any category will get a chance to win a $25 gift card to Brothers Pizza in Centre Hall.  One book must be completed by August 31, 2018.  For more info contact Jane Taylor at 777-1099 or

      Your Ministry of Giving

The mirror in the offering plate takes courage to view. For it might reveal more than we’d want it to do. What you put in is not about buying heaven. But maybe token thanks for the grace that God has given.

Grace will be combining our services on every 3rd Sunday of the month this summer, starting in June thru August @ 9:00 AM.

Even if there is no change, please update your family information on the provided sheet.  Place in the basket in the lobby.  Thank You, Becki

       Acolytes for 1st service needed

Acolytes bring in the “Light of the Lord” and light the two candles on the altar. They will also light special candles as certain times of the year.  They distribute and collect the offering plates. At the end of the service, acolytes take the “Light of the Lord” back out into the world, always holding the flame higher than the top of their heads and extinguishing only after exiting the sanctuary.

Acolytes must be tall enough to see the wicks in order to light them.

If you are interested in serving as an acolyte, contact Becki for training and you will be added to the rotation. ( or 814-364-1701

Many hands make light work

Grace Church has a prayer chain for immediate prayer needs that cannot wait until Sunday.  Calls with requests should go to Jane Taylor at 364-1857 or you can contact the church office at 364-1701.  You will also be asked if the name should be published on the prayer list in the bulletin.  If you would like to add your name as a member of the prayer chain, please contact Jane Taylor at 364-1857 or the church office.

Grace UMC Building Usage

Please be advised that all building usage needs to go through the office.  With the renovation of Ash Hall, there will be many different organizations and church members using that space.  It’s important to keep an accurate calendar and the best way to do this is to schedule through the office.  This includes usage of the class rooms upstairs.  Please contact Becki in the office at 814-364-1701 for scheduling and questions.
